Auditory Training Software
Auditory training is a commonly used method
to develop auditory processing skills. In years past
auditory training required seeing a hearing therapist
or a speech/language pathologist for therapy. This
was effective, but for many was expensive and sometimes
not convenient to attend therapy sessions two to three
times per week. With the advent of the personal computer, it
became possible to do this training on you computer at home. This
is not only convenient, but very cost effective as the cost
of the software is typically less than the cost of a few therapy
sessions. This is not to knock the value of working sessions
working with a professional therapist. Computer based
training programs are very interactive today, but they cannot
precisely isolate and target the particular auditory skill
weaknesses for every person. Such generalization of treatment
is a trade-off for cost effectiveness and convenience.
